  • I am not watching any other videos until I get to watch Red Dead Redemption 2 Build continues! Part Infinity. Headed out to watch someone else modifying a case, I wish it was Jay working on this build. I have already watched all of this builds parts all the way through 4 times. May 5th, I will see when I get a Red Dead Redemption Notification.

  • I think working with Jay would be fun.

  • instead of having fancy copper pipes for the water cooling, why dont you use regular hard line and then have each straight pipe on the hardliner look like a stick of dynamite inside the case, instead of having a bundle of dynamite on top of the case. i think it would look very cool P.S just finish the build ;)

  • I just stumbled across this build series and I love it! But ... you stopped? It's been months! In case you get back to it, here's my two cents, for what they're worth. In a "normal" world ... old world ... I like your idea for a wood case and brass or copper loops. It's a great combo. But I don't think in this particular case that I'd take that direction. For some odd reason (I can't imagine why) this case screams FIRE to me. So me, I'd do a custom clear loop with a red dye ... and then cut some plexiglass and/or smear some clear silicone or something to look like flames and add RGB LED strips behind the dye to really amp up the fire effect like those fake candles, especially where you can mount the tubes to the case interior for a sturdy placement. Maybe even a bit of cold cathode lighting with LED-strip enhancement if the lighting pattern isn't picking up well enough. I think turning a custom watercooling setup into a source of "flames" would really fit this case mod. I'd probably even find a way to secretly tap the loop into the PVC pipes of fake dynamite to use at least some of the dynamite as a reservoir. I also think that especially with the black case parts, really staining and burning the wood around those parts even darker ... much darker ... would help the black case parts blend in better with the exploded / burned wood look anywhere that you can see the black metal case. The side panels I wouldn't hinge. I would add magnets + metal plates so that they could just pop off. Though you could do both, hinge one side, magnet the side that "latches". But I'd just all-magnet it. Easier to work on a case or to show it off. And the side panel I'd definitely glue a sheet of plexiglass to the inside. I know it wouldn't look quite as good that way, but, protection. After all that work I'd cry if something happened because it was open. LOL Plus, to my next idea, I'd filter the intakes, so closing the case up would help prevent dust buildup. For the front panel, as cool as the rusted mesh is, personally I'd take some nylon stockings as close to the wood tone as I could find, cut them up and glue them to the mesh, and airbrush it to look like burned wood. With the lighting it might look a bit funky in the dark, but at least then your air intake will be filtered. But ... yeah ... I really love this case idea. Even if your two cents doesn't agree with mine in the end? LOL It's this kind of custom look that I really wish I had a shop to do. Anyone can buy a cool looking case and RGB the crap out of it. But to make case mods like this is really special. They're works of art to be proud of.

  • What you could do to make the metal look more realistic, is sand it all down, put it in a beer bath, and the mental should rapidly rust in an hour, then spray some rust protection on it and then clear coat it.

  • just recently, my 1660 decided to do essentially the same thing as that 1080. one day I came home, booted up my computer and got a MB beep. after opening the box, and looking at it and seeing nothing wrong, trying to boot 3 more times, still had the same beep issue. Grabbed the user manual and looked up the beep to find it saying 'no vga' (it's an old AMD board). I pulled the 1660 and put it into another AMD box and it failed boot there too. after about an hour of fooling around I decided I just wanted back onto my desktop and threw a gt710 I had lying around into the same pci slot that the 1660 was in and it booted just fine. threw the 1660 back in and it failed again. so I know it's not the PCI slot. I put the 710 into an extra 8x slot on the board and it boots to that just fine but behaves extremely weird with both GPU in at the same time.. one more reboot and the 1660 is now outputting but the computer thinks it's using the 710. 2 more reboots and the 710 is still in but not connected to anything and it boots to the 1660 just fine. I still haven't taken that 710 out of the 8x slot, but i'm 100% sure taking it out would not cause it to not boot. I'm going to assume that the AMD boards did not have onboard vga and the intel board did. seems like getting all the way to windows with the 1660 just plugged in was sufficient to fix whatever problem it was having.. probably some bios issue.

  • Its not a cutting disc, its a grinding disc you were using. the 1mm Cutting blades are awsome once you know them :). Nice thin cuts, and usually a bit straighter then the dremel bits (i hate it when those small blades dremel) "POP" / destroy themselves. Really like your MOD video's i'm starting on my own first mode (due to necessity of a 240RAD not fitting in my case..) and would like to see other mods. Your LAN Star-wars mod rlly showed how easy / minor the changes (not so radical) it has to be to get an 10+ in awsome looks, or A+ for you guys across the great pond..

  • I understand the nails were for looks but hear me out, to make it easier for you next time you should you should use screws First, if you use a drill bit thats slightly smaller then the screws and make a pilot hole first the screws won't split the wood and will be much easier for you to take apart and put back together if you want or need to. Once your happy with the final product you can take All the screws out and replace them with the nails of your choice as long as they are as thick or slightly thicker then the screws you used. Also at your local hardware store or home cheapo they should have metal "Diomand edged" cutting wheels made for cutting Metal and other various things. But the cutting wheel is much thinner and stronger then the grinding wheel you have on there now, i've used the same wheel several times to cut DVD drives and hard drives clean in half in less the 15 seconds and you probably could have got through that grate in 10. Hope this helps :) the case looks Great

  • Really silly suggestion on a month old video...it might possibly be which port you plugged the display cable into? Because my new system, I was using the one HDMI slot until I found out Display Port is apparently better. So I switched that and found it wouldn't show the POST screen or let me see the BIOS any more. So I figured that was a dumb design that I NEEDED to use HDMI to see the BIOS, but whatever, I'd just swap over next time I needed it. By chance, I don't know what I was doing, I found that I had plugged the cable into Display Port 3 of my GPU. Once I put it in Display Port 1 it let me see the POST screen and BIOS again. Yeah the GPU boots to Windows, but the new system doesn't have Windows yet. That said, I don't know if that Intel test bench showed you the POST screen or not =/ Besides, the wooden build doesn't have Windows yet, so it would still be trying to output through one display port you might not be using to give you the "I don't have an OS" message..
