I'm running all my games and editing programs on full settings and until I need to tweak them like J mentioned I'm not gonna worry about 3000 series or what AMD has to offer. I'll give this 2070 super another year and see where I'm. Besides, I think I'll have to upgrade my power supply as well.

  • It's going to come down to who has inventory. Nvidia 30 series might as well not have launched because no one can get one. For me, cost is not an issue, I could buy a 3090 if I could FIND one. If Big Navi has inventory in stock and Ampere is sold out, I'm getting Big Navi or vice-a-versa.

  • ray tracing is still useless, even with the 3080 it shits on performance too much to be worth it but at least it kinda works this generations, the first gen RTX cards were literally ass in terms of experience and I still feel bad for anyone that went for the initial ray tracing hype. If they truly had faith in their technology they should have offered non RTX versions of their top end cards and see how well RTX would sell VS the non RTX version, the reason they don't is because they know it gotta be forced for adaption to ever happen at this point, AMD is just jumping on it for marketing reasons, a bad situation for consumers IMO.

  • AMD teraflops are 16-bits floating point!!! Therefore they must be divided by two to equals the standard FP32 teraflops from everybody else. 17 AMD teraflops == 8.5 nVidia teraflops. Also, nVidia's price cut was genius considering the incoming Big Navi... Now AMD will have to either sell the card at a loss, or sell it at least more expensive than the 3070, which will probably wipe the floor with Big Navi... AMD is fucked.

    Robert JohanssonRobert Johansson2 tháng trước
  • With 2020 being a very goofy year it might just come down to price vs performance. Unless you are a fan boy of a particular brand. Personally I do not care I have had good luck in the past with gpus from both companies. I really do not need a ton of custom features, just some nice fps and a smooth gaming experience and I am good.

    Adin ChandraAdin Chandra2 tháng trước
  • If my two choices are 1) get the 'good card' for a lot of money (with ray tracing) or 2) get the 'cheap card' that's good for not much (but without ray tracing) then yes, I'd prefer not to have it. But that isn't to say that I wouldn't like to have ray tracing for a more affordable price. So you don't have to be hardcore AMD to not want it currently. And yes, I know I'm oversimplifying. :-)

  • I'm really cheering on AMD here... Ryzen was such a shock at the time, and even now continues to be so good, especially when you take into consideration price vs performance. If the next AMD card is even comparable to say a 3070, but is like 100 bucks cheaper, to me, that's a no brainer.

  • How about this....Stop being hyped. The RTX 3080 will NOT be 2x the performance of a 2080Ti. If 2080TI's are running ray traced games at 60-80 fps, you all actually think that the RTX 3080 will run Ray Traced games at 150-160 FPS??? Anyone who thinks that is nuts! Note how Nvidia showed no FPS data in their charts, they only said "Faster." Faster can mean so many things, such as SSD draw speeds. We're probably looking at 30 FPS boost at max.

  • AMD GPUs have always failed to deliver. AMD GPU team should say the lost all their rdnas got lost during a deep sea fishing accident over the Atlantic. AMDs cpu team, they have a huge chance at dethroning Intel once and for all. AMD needs to give up on GPUs they are not meant for it, focus on your strengths.

      Ali AhmedAli Ahmed2 tháng trước
    • @Ali Ahmed The consumers will. Not buying NVIDIA GPUs = no money being made. So they will have to change to keep them alive.

  • Not a fanboy, but I do hope Big Navi™ comes to play, not just because I like to see the underdog win but to prevent NVidia from becoming too comfortable. Hello algorithm!

    Nathan WoodNathan Wood2 tháng trước
  • nvda has been doing great so it's a tall order for AMD to beat them like they do intel. I could see AMD launching a semi high end card that matches 3080 in some gaming benchmarks but not all and compete on price. But I'm all for AMD doing a clean sweep besting 3090 in every spec and price too. I really like a good underdog story and it has nothing to do with the fact that I own a lot of AMD stock. If AMD genuinely challenges the top of nvidia, that's a huge upset. Imagine if AMD becomes absolute king. The nasty wildcard is that their AMD nor Nvidia make ther own chips. It's critically dependent on the wafer tech they can buy. Specifically TSMC is the current king maker.

    • @69Jasond if they were not scared they would continue their old customer hostile approach that they stopped when the 5700 XT got released, actions speak louder than words and their actions, their prices and releases, tell us all we need to know until we wait for the truth to unveil itself, likely they realized they were gonna end up like intel if they did not get to work for their customers again, the 3000 series of RTX cards bear the mark of reacting to competition while the 2000 series really feels like milking and false hype, I feel bad for anyone that bought a 2000 series rtx card. Oh, and never have a team other than your own needs.

      Top_CheezeTop_Cheeze2 tháng trước
    • @69Jasond We will see... Even though I feel the hype and want to by one, I just don't need all that power, maybe once every two years, it would be ridiculous for me to buy it. But god the rtx30xx are appealing... Competition and huge perf increase are so compelling though... Having any of the cards at announced price, will be shear luck, as the stock will drop as soon as it launches. I must resist the urge... (>~

      Nicolas DavidNicolas David2 tháng trước
    • @Nicolas David With the console being as strong as it is on AMD I have very little doubt that AMD could make a card that would trade blows with a 3090. The issue is that a Navi2x80(21) is 505mm2 vs a Ryzen2 3950x being 80mm2. doing the math AMD makes $2250 on the CPU vs $1500 max on the GPU retail. Not even counting that the CPU doesn't have to have all the RAM and Cooler nonsense. I really want AMD to come out swinging on the GPU side but the money... The money might kill the high tier AMD cards just like gen 1 Navi. Moore's Law has a vid that sums it up nicely though he focuses less on the money side. viworld.info/rock/video/1G2HlKeiqJKA2Xk.html

      69Jasond69Jasond2 tháng trước
    • @69Jasond Indeed, maybe Navi 2 will be an in between 3070 and 3080 in many regards, and i suspect not as good on the ray-tracing part. Time will tell, but I guess Nvidia only had to drop the price to keep the upper hand. Based on history, I wouldn't bet on AMD, even though I hope hey have a good one. Who doesn't like a good fight ? Plus I largely prefer red color over green...

      Nicolas DavidNicolas David2 tháng trước
    • I’d say partnering with Samsung on the 30 series deal made a huge impact.

      IsaacIsaac2 tháng trước
  • Must be really tough being a GPU manufacturer. I mean, who's gonna be the 2nd best if there are only two GPU manufacturers? For gaming anyway. I guess price is a big thing for many, but still, if you are the performance king you basically don't have to advertise, everyone just knows after a quick search.
