  • Hey Jay, If I plan on using a waterblock does it matter which gpu brand I get? From my understanding they just add aftermarket coolers and increase clock speed out of the box, but if I plan on doing a custom loop and overclock myself does it really matter which brand I buy? or could I just buy the cheapest one?

At the same time in their liquid conference running right now it seems they might have some fluid announcements, but perhaps only about their pre-built PCs ... so as a semi invested in the FuildGaming line I don't know if I should wait for them to expand it, or if they killed it, should I migrate to copper/nickel lineup? Thanks!

  • I'm way late but hoping you or someone knowledgeable might take my question anyway. I am continuing my education in machine learning and will be seeking a postgraduate diploma the second half of this year. I would probably be happy just to continue using google colabs online instead of training locally, but, I also play some cpu heavy games: civilization, cities skylines; I am looking to play Before we leave. I used to play Overwatch as well, but it is pc only and nowadays I have a mapbook pro. For these reasons, I am thinking of getting a gaming PC. Professionally I do front end engineering and need quality color and a unix environment, so macs are the first choice for someone like me: my macbook pro will continue to serve my needs, this is a splurge for gaming and education. I would really prefer a portable box, like an itx, but the downside is expandability. especially with new storage solutions very likely coming in the next couple of years, do you think I need the 2 pci 16x? Any chance of more x570 options -- especially mATX which might feasibly be both portable and expandable? Should I wait for 3000 series nvidia? Should I wait for the next imac with (hopefully) big navi, and just load it up with storage and ram and dual boot?

  • I don't know about others but personally, I watch your videos due to the fact that you're honest, There's no bullshit in what you say, you'll admit when you're wrong and adapt to be better and give out better information/knowledge just from watching your videos alone I've a better understanding of in-depth topics relating to hardware, not only that but you make things easier to grasp and learn you present yourself in a way that is professional but also fun and entertaining! As a viewer I feel like you're a straight up honest guy and i can respect that. its also clear to see that you opinion is not influenced by the brand/product you're reviewing for or talking about - for example your boycott on Thermaltake products a few years back, I fully stand with you on that one! I personally feel they used to produce some really good hardware however in the last few years that quality/creation and attention to detail has dramatically dropped off. It's very disappointing. I have recently stripped my build of the Thermaltake Ring TT premium fans, due to the fact that they were (and in no better words) absolutely shit! the controller always lost connection to the software, the fans would never run at the speed I set them, the LED's would never stay on the setting I selected, the software was the biggest downfall of the lot with its basic 2003 looking GUI it was as if they put little to no effort into the creation and design of almost every action from the start. I had them in two different builds with different motherboards and i had replaced the controller itself, The issue still persisted they have been replaced with standard Corsair SP 120 fans with no LED's as they just work! in the future those will be replaced with Corsair ML 120 RGB fans along with a commander pro. However, my point is that out of all the other tech VIworldr's I watch you are in my opinion the most honest, straight talking and least biased on the platform!

  • Out of ideas? time to build a watercooled chair.

I'm a hell of a geek and car fanatic who actually tests things as you do I even make the same blurbs/mistakes so your channel has been really interesting. Keep the oopsies in the videos. The only downside is that 95% of the time when I'm working on a car or computer (95% might be a bit low...) I'm often fixing issues, not restoring or upgrading so there are a lot of...are you fucking kidding me!? Moments.

  • Hello Jayz, Here a message of a newbie in water-cooling and I mean as green as can be. There are no so many different basic components for water-cooling made ever ware. I was having a lot of fun with your 19 USD CPU water block. So, my question: Is buying parts for a water-cooling pc on AliExpress saving you a lot of money or creating a major headage. On a lot of componets you will see "made in china" so why not cut away the middle man. Is for example a radiator of corsair so mucht better than form bykski? You can buy a complete set for water-cooling for around 250$ on aliexpress. hard tubing and petg Is the noise of a "B" rgb fan so much more than a best of the best noctua. Buying 2 Noctua's or 6 fans from AliExpress and let them run on 50% power. How is the noise of a pump to the noise of a fan on 50, 75 and 100% You asked for a challenge, Built a water-cooling with the cheapest argb stuff what you can find form Aliexpress and test is until it breaks ;-) Water pump blow-up was COOOOLLLLL Take care and thanks for you great video’s Marc

  • Another question, why don't CPU manufacturers make their CPUs slightly larger (i.e. less densely packed cores etc) to aid heat dissipation? I get it, there's a cost involved in creating a new socket, but still, I'd hope that wasn't the reason why. :)

The PC works fine with my old R7 but for some reason it doesn't with the Powercolour red davil RX 5700 xt. Specs: ASRock H370 performance. Intel i5-8500. 16 gb geil 2400 hzs memory. • Here's a real question. SATA is point to point. What if you have a mixed system of SATA II and III hard drives? Does the SATA II drag down the SATA III? Logically, since each is point to point, each should run at its maximum capability, but is that true? Context - using something like Free NAS, yeah you shouldn't group SATA II with SATA III drives together, but if you were to group your SATA II's together and your SATA III's together, would the SATA III's run at SATA III, or would they be drug down to SATA II rates? This would be running with the on-motherboard SATA ports - no add in SATA controller card - I think this is an interesting topic to explore.

    Steve EmpeySteve Empey6 tháng trước
    • Larger context - as we upgrade systems we have "older" hardware. That hardware is not useless, so the question is how can we use this older hardware that makes sense?

  • I'm so happy Jay! I found your channel while trying to find info on building a new PC, and I learned so much because I'm a newbie. I have a Dell Inspirion 7559 Laptop, and for the longest it has had the lowest fps ever for every game. It has a very decent cpu and kinda trash graphics card. I was giving up on it because it was averaging 5-20 fps on MINECRAFT! The most un-detailed game ever! And playing shooter games with remotely smooth graphics was a DREAM. But, by watching your videos, I learned about how much resolution can affect your fps if the gpu is bad. This led to me finally checking my system settings for my laptop, and I found out it runs 4K AT A RECOMMENDED SETTING! With this crappy of a gpu! I changed the resolution to 2k resolution in proportions to my screen. It ended up changing my fps from 5-20 up 60 fps average! I might even be able to play shooter games! I thank you so much Jay because you may have saved me so much money!

He's helped create one hell of a community around the industry that brought me deeper into fabrication then I ever thought I would get with a small home shop and working full time. Check out his VIworld channel and see it for yourself, I have a feeling you would really enjoy what he does.

  • Jay I am currently using a Logitech G700s mouse and its at least 6 years old. I changed the rechargeable battery a year ago but lately I am having issues with the pointer just freezing for a second or two then goes back to moving. I have no idea what could be causing this and its driving me crazy. Every now and then it also gets to a point where I have to move a few inches and the pointer will cross the whole screen but sometimes I have to move it several times to cross the screen its like I slide my mouse across my whole mouse pad and the pointer only moves like 3 inches on screen. Do I need a new mouse? New battery, how long do rechargeable batteries last? Also another issue I am having (not sure if related to the mouse issue) I could be watching a clip of something and suddenly it pauses for a few seconds and I hear all my fans speed up then the clip continues. This is a new build about a year old. I have Intel I9-9900K 3.6Hz, GeForce RTX 2080 TI, 64 GB RAM and using a 4k monitor.
