  • I'm not an intel fanboy and I have an AMD CPU in my desktop but I'm just going to say it. Don't count intel out just yet, amd was on the brink for years and came back swinging even with far less money to throw around. AMD poked the bear and intel could very well wake up and release something that completely blows everyone's minds.

  • Hints for #Intel: - Maybe drop some prices so that you become more attractive to people who might to stick with you (brand loyalty and all that)... Just, you know, a thought... ^^ - Oh, and maybe if you didn't have a catalogue of a zillion processors, you could save some money on design and inventory management... Your average punter doesn't know or care about the various intricacies of CPUs--they simply want one that's fast and doesn't have the energy consumption of a nuclear power plant. Just maintain a small list of CPUs (all with a high core count but defaulting to, say, 4) and then implement a firmware/software unlock for those who actually want to use more cores... :| (Like #Tesla did for their batteries at one point!)

  • I used an Intel for the last 6 years, and I got exactly what i payed for, now I own a 3900x (bought almost a year ago) and not only did his price drop significantly, it did not deliver its paper performance. No matter how hard I tried to lie into my pocket I had to realize, nope it won´t hit those fancy numbers, maybe I just got bad luck? But bad luck was never an Intel issue, they did exactly as advertised. AMD advertised a lot and sadly, I must be very unlucky but my 3900x does not match those numbers. Do not get me wrong the 3900x is still fairly powerful but as far as manufacturer and lying is concerned. AMD lied hard. Hence why I won´t buy a 6800 and stick to NVIDIA.

  • Zen 3 is a freaking paper launch, it's the very definition of it. No OEMs (98% of the market) shipping with it, the targeted 2% of the market DIY can't even get it now. Paper Launch: "A release of a product, especially a computer component, in extremely limited quantities, making it very difficult for consumers to get their hands on. The purpose of this is generally for a company to be able to say "we have the fastest chip", before they can actually produce large numbers of them. "

  • Jesus was born to a virgin, turned water to wine, taught, healed the sick, raised the dead, casted out demons, walked on water, and calmed the storm, among many other things. He was killed, and three days later He rose from the dead. Forty days later He ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father. He is returning very soon, but before He does, Satan, the devil, is coming to pretend to be Jesus. Satan is an angel, and he will have certain supernatural powers with which to try to fool everyone. He will, for example, be able to make fire come down from heaven in the sight of men. He will only be on earth a short time before the real King of Kings, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, returns. When the real Jesus comes we will all be transformed into our spiritual bodies at the same moment. Jesus came to offer forgiveness of sins and eternal life to anyone who believes and calls on His precious name. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; - Romans 3:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. - Romans 6:23 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. - John 3:16-18 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. - Proverbs 10:22

  • Comparing a $500-600 intel CPU with a $1000+ AMD one. Only getting a few FPS more on some games. Intel dropped their price by a lot making performance/dollar competitive with AMD. AMD just has a faster high end processor which comes also with a higher price which makes sense. Intel was on top sine core 2 duos and AMD survived over 10 years of being at the bottom. You're a fool to think intel will not engineer a new better CPU in the next few years. AMD fans "My new $1000 CPU gets 10 FPS more then latest intel on 1080p settings your processor is so shit and not relevant anymore" Intel fans "My 10 year old i7 still out performs most AMD CPU's before the new line up, good job catching up and actually making a decent processor"

Now Intel can regain their performance crown for only 200 Watts more heat and power and $350 more money (not including power supply upgrade). Sounds like a Winner to me. • Rocket Lake is probably going to deliver comparable performance to Zen 3 CPUs but at 2 - 3 times the TDP (particularly if Intel forces its clocks far higher than the optimal clocks of the new μarch). Computers sporting Rocket Lake might double as heaters - or frying pans. It will make no sense to buy Rocket Lake. Intel needs Alder Lake to compete, though it's doubtful it will be able to beat Zen 4 based CPUs; perhaps it will only beat them in efficiency due to its big.LITTLE design. But above all they need to move beyond their problematic 10nm node toward 7nm and Meteor Lake (the Ocean Cove cores of which reportedly have a target IPC 80% higher than Skylake, which will be quite impressive if they manage to deliver that ... sometime in ~2024).

  • Problem with intel is their manufacturing rules and processes. They do a thing called “Copy Exactly !” which basically makes it that any manufacturer that sells a part to intel can’t change ANYTHING about it unless it goes through rigorous testing and very rarely gets approval as is. Intel is too afraid to update its manufacturing processes with the latest and greatest parts and it’s finally catching up to them.

  • I think "10 nm backported to 14 nm" means that Intel conceived their new circuitry having the power consumption and frequency numbers in mind for a 10 nm node. But since it is not ready for them, they have to use 14 nm instead, which means they will be forced to lower their expectations in terms of the clock-speed at which their new chips line-up will run. This does not sound good for them indeed...
