  • I had a similar issue when overlocking my 3600x. I could not get it that far. Even bumping the voltages. Highest i got was just under 4.1 all core. Then not expecting much I used the AI suite to auto overclock. It actually got me to 4.35 all core. Rock solid and the boost holds. In games and benches.

  • "If I got $X to spend on a CPU." No.. a budget doesn't work like that! NOBODY upgrade a CPU only. It's always with a new motherboard, ESPECIALLY if you're talking Intel. And if someone IS upgrading their CPU, they're buying into a high tier, because they got money to spend. You HAVE to include motherboard pricing, B550 are on average 35% the cost of your Z390's average cost. And the starting prices are like $70 vs $130, and you don't get a cooler with Intel. That's at least $20, you're ignoring a $70 price difference, sure let's call it $50 if you paid extra for RAM, but still, those OC numbers you're showing, is not an Intel CPU being overclocked by a $20 cooler, so it's still a moot point. Saying they compare in price is a fallacy.

    BloodstainerBloodstainerTháng trước
    • No

      Giovats7Giovats7Tháng trước
    • Yep, we are Missing you need an expensive Z490 motherboard and a cooler!

      Oscar JungOscar JungTháng trước
  • AMD 3600XT with a B550 motherboard with full PCIe 4.0 support is cheaper than a Intel 10600k with a cheap intel mobo that doesn't even support overclocking. By the time you've reached Z390 price range, AMD can swap to the new 5000-series AMD and just slow those in.

    BloodstainerBloodstainerTháng trước
  • 2020 and we're still comparing Intel and AMD CPUs without acknowledging the huge mobo price disparity in the intro. AMD just takes this win. 3600 + 550 is so much cheaper and just outshines intel, and 3600 is a last gen chip by mid-November.

    BloodstainerBloodstainerTháng trước

I'm assuming (hoping) the Ryzens will come down even more in early November when the 5000 series drops and we have Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

But I'm using a Kabini, everything is smooth and responsive even with background apps going 24/7; except if I'm also running a video on YT or open a dynamic page with a huge amount of data.

    raszelastraszelast3 tháng trước
  • I would like to see this revisited with intel disallowing overclocking on all but z series motherboards and having the price of the cheapest overclockable motherboard for each factored in. Also on the AMD side maybe having multiple OC profiles, like a single core oc with the others possibly downclocked for single core applications and same for dual core then like an all core profile where they're all overclocked the same to get maximum performance for each application.

Nevermind, Google cleared it for me - both proved and proven are in use: As a past participle, proven is the accepted form in Scotland and the preferred form throughout North America. I'm probably used to only hearing something is proven, from Hollywood movies.
